Ghandi stood against the British Empire with non violence demonstrations. He went to England in 1888 to study law School, later he went to South Africa to experience the racism close up. Here he found out that the most effective “weapon” against racism and suppression was non violence acts.
When he returned to India he made an organization that was going to insure the rights for the Indian people. In 1915 he joined the National Congress and moved fast up in the ranks in the party, and in 1925 he was elected to the leader. The goal for this party was to liberate the subcontinent from the British Empire.
